Carers Week 2025: Supporting Carers Across Norfolk

Supporting carers of all ages

Voluntary Norfolk has been supporting carers of all ages – from young carers to adult carers for many years. We are delighted to support initiatives like Carers Week which shine a light on the experiences and needs of carers.

This year, the focus of Carers Week is on tackling the inequalities unpaid carers face every day — and that includes young carers.

Too often, young carers go unnoticed. They might be supporting a parent, sibling, or family member with illness, disability, or addiction, all while juggling school, friendships, and their own health. The pressures are real — leading to social isolation, poor mental and physical health, and missed opportunities in education and future work.

At Young Carers Matter Norfolk (YCMN), we are proud to stand with young carers across Norfolk. We believe that caring should never mean missing out, and we work hard every day to create a future where young carers are seen, heard, and supported equally.

How we help reduce inequalities for carers

Through our work, we aim to reduce these inequalities by:

  • Providing emotional and practical support to young carers and their families
  • Running group activities that help young carers build friendships and take a well-deserved break
  • Supporting schools to identify and assist young carers with their education
  • Offering employability support and life skills to build brighter futures
  • Giving young carers a platform to share their stories and experiences through youth-led projects

This Carers Week 2025, we invite you to stand with us. Together, we can raise awareness, challenge stigma, and create a Norfolk where young carers are recognised, valued, and given equal chances to thrive.
