From three volunteer roles to a brand-new business

At a networking event last year, Chloe had one goal for 2026: give something back to her community. She got chatting, volunteering came up, and someone pointed her towards Get InVOLved Norfolk. She had no idea where it would lead.

Chloe started browsing the opportunities and got a bit carried away. Marketing roles, events roles, roles she could really see herself doing. So, she applied for three of them.

Within months, Chloe was helping a local charity plan its 60th anniversary campaign, running social media for Norwich Samaritans’ brand new city-centre store, and building connections she never expected. Real difference, made with skills she already had.

“Those three opportunities have given me a huge amount of confidence and belief in myself and my skills, and propelled me to where I am now.”

Just a few months later, Chloe handed in her notice at the marketing agency where she’d spent several happy years, and launched her own business: Pink Lemonaid. Now she spends her days helping charities and community groups with marketing, events and social media, and matching them up with businesses looking to make a difference through corporate social responsibility.

Chloe set out to give a few hours a month. She ended up changing her own career, and building something that’s now helping charities and businesses across Norfolk find each other. Her story shows perfectly that volunteers get out of volunteering just as much as the organisations they help.

See Chloe tell it in her own words:

Got skills to give?

Chloe’s story started with one decision: offer your skills, not just your time. If you’ve got expertise sitting there ready to be useful – marketing, admin, events, finance, or something else entirely – there are roles built around exactly that on Get InVOLved Norfolk.
