Christmas Hampers spread cheer in Great Yarmouth

More than 100 Christmas hampers have been created by the Better Together team, which are going out to people across Great Yarmouth who were identified as being in need of a festive cheer at this time of year

The initiative builds on the success of last year’s Great Yarmouth Open Christmas which saw the sit down dinner cancelled because of fear about the omicron variant at the end of the Covid pandemic.

The new plan was to instead create hampers or “goodie bags” which would be delivered before Christmas. The bags or hampers have been tailored for different ages and different needs.

We hope that the Christmas hampers that we have created will add a considerable festive joy to everyone who receives them. As ever, we are humbled and indebted to all those who volunteered their time to make this happen

The plan was that the items included would help people not just on Christmas day but over the winter months when the cost of living crisis is expected to hit households the most.

Items included in the Christmas hampers:

  • A range of food including cereal, pasta, tins, rice, sauce mixes
  • Box/tin of chocolates
  • Toilet roll
  • Sanitary products for women
  • Tea, coffee, sugar
  • Deodorant, soap
  • Thermal hat, scarf and gloves
  • Every box had a hand made gift from Norfolk Knitters
  • A handmade card made by our groups and volunteers
