What we do

Voluntary Norfolk’s mission is to support volunteers and voluntary organisations across Norfolk, something we have been doing since the organisation was first established in 1969. What we do can be broken down into three broad categories: volunteers, voluntary organisations and voice.

We call them “the three Vs of Voluntary Norfolk.”

Volunteers

Volunteers are at the heart of all that we do. Through four volunteer centres (in Norwich, Great Yarmouth, Cromer and Thetford) and a team of Volunteer co-ordinators across the county, we work to recruit volunteers - matching personal skills and interests to the right volunteer opportunities – and to promote the benefits that volunteering brings to individuals and to Norfolk as a whole.

Last year 8,846 volunteers contacted Voluntary Norfolk to find out how they can help in their communities.

Voluntary Organisations

Voluntary Norfolk supports a wide range of community and charity organisations with expert help and advice. Over 300 local organisations are members of Voluntary Norfolk which allows access to a range of specialist free and paid-for services and we work in partnership with many voluntary and public sector bodies for the benefit of people in Norfolk .

Voice

Voluntary Norfolk also acts a voice for community and voluntary organisations, ensuring that whatever the organisation size, the value of volunteers and voluntary organisations is recognised and represented when public sector partners and government consider local and national policies and funding.

News and Reports

At Your Bidding is a guide for charity trustees about commissioning and tendering for public services, published in partnership with the Local Government Association.

This publication is not a detailed technical manual on how to tender. The focus is squarely on the key issues that individuals need to be aware of in fulfilling their duties as charity trustees.

Give As You Live

If only you could support Voluntary Norfolk without it costing you anything!

You can.

Charities need money to carry on helping those in greatest need but these days few people can afford to donate very much. If only there was a way to give to charity without it costing you anything.

There is.

Give As You Live is a mechanism that allows you donate money to Voluntary Norfolk every time you shop online with some of Britain’s biggest High Street names, but you don’t pay a penny – they do. Top retailers – including Curry’s, Dixons, O2, HMV, John Lewis, House of Fraser, M&S, Boots, B&Q,  H. Samuel, Hamleys and Topshop - will donate give 2.5% of your online spend to Voluntary Norfolk at no cost to you.

You can continue to support us throughout the year simply by doing your weekly food-shop online because Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury’s and Waitrose have all signed up too.

And, because ‘give as you live’ provides exclusive offers, you can make substantial savings while making a substantial difference to Voluntary Norfolk. We have been supporting volunteers and volunteers for over 40 years – with a little help from you, we can continue to do that for another 40.

Get some great deals, save time and hassle and support a very, very good cause by visiting Give As You Live today.

It only takes a minute sign up.

Same products, same price, same stores, big difference.
