Cooking on a budget workshops underway

Pam Spicer from Harleston Information Plus, which works alongside our Better Together team, has started a series of workshops about cooking on a budget.

The next cooking workshop is planned for Friday 13th May, with further ones scheduled on Friday 20th May and Friday 27th May. They will all be held at St John’s Church in Harleston between 10am and midday.

The workshops will be delivered by a Norfolk County Council trained tutor and all ingredients will be provided for free. The events are open to anyone over the age of 19 and a complimentary recipe book will be given to participants at the end of the course.

Given the much publicised “cost of living crisis”, these cooking on a budget workshops could prove to be very useful for families and individuals in South Norfolk who are struggling because of rising food costs and higher utility bills.

Although Voluntary Norfolk’s Better Together service is primarily tasked with tackling social isolation in Norwich, South Norfolk, Great Yarmouth and Broadland, it also provides a wider package of support for individuals, where loneliness is a symptom of other more complex challenges, such as caring responsibilities, mental or physical ill health or debt.
