Non Emergency Patient Transport Volunteer Service

Enjoy driving and meeting people?

Then this could be an excellent volunteering
opportunity for you.

Voluntary Norfolk is working with ERS Medical to provide a non-emergency patient transport service to people living in Norfolk.

Our Volunteer Car drivers take patients to essential health appointments within the county and elsewhere in the UK.  They use their own cars to provide a home–to–home service for non-emergency patients taking them to and from various outpatients’ clinics and specialist treatment centres including dialysis units.

To be a volunteer for this service you’ll need to enjoy driving and meeting people.  It can be a anxious or stressful time for some patients who are attending medical appointments so providing reassurance and support as well as transport is important in this role.

You will have to undergo the usual DBS and other security checks plus have a clean driving licence and a 4 door vehicle that is regularly maintained with valid documentation. We will offer you training to support you in your role.

Watch Volunteer Tony's story on Mustard TV, after being recognised with a British Citizen Award.
